site.btaParliamentary Monitor: Friday

At its regular sitting on Friday, the National Assembly transacted business as follows:

-          GERB-UDF MP Toma Bikov read a declaration, demanding the Government's resignation and early general elections. “In as few as three months the potential for efficiency of the current legislature was exhausted and its agenda does not reflect the agenda of the people. As the only way out of the situation we see the resignation of the government, the dissolution of the 47th National Assembly and the scheduling of early elections.” said Bikov in the declaration on behalf of his parliamentary group on the occasion of the 100 days in office of the incumbent government. GERB-UDF urge the mainstream parties in the ruling coalition to reconsider their position and withdraw from the coalition as soon as possible;

-      In a declaration on behalf of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms MP Dzhevdet Chakarov urged the government to draw up a plan with short-term and long-term measures for overcoming the effects of the war in Ukraine. The declaration states that the government has no plan for management of the unprecedented crisis in Bulgaria, caused by the war in Ukraine. At this stage the incumbents act randomly, without any planning and prevention measures, said Chakarov. The declaration also says that the governments of other EU countries have taken serious measures to address the crisis. It quotes expert political forecasts that the world has to prepare for a long-drawn war and that the crises it gives rise to will have serious longterm implications.
