Bulgaria exports weapons and dual use goods to over 60 countries but Ukraine is not among them, and it has not been since the signing of the Minsk agreements in 2015, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy and Industry Minister Korneliya Ninova said during question time in Parliament on Friday. As a coalition partner, BSP for Bulgaria will not allow Bulgaria to be involved in the war through the supply of weapons, ammunition and dual use products and technologies, the BSP leader underscored.

Taking a question about an alert by an MP about Bulgarian-produced weapons and armaments having been sent in humanitarian aid trucks to Ukraine on March 18 and 21, Ninova said that she had checked the documents provided by the MP. In her words, such a transport of weapons has neither been discussed at her Ministry and the weapons commission nor permitted.

The Economy Minister recalled that the responsible commission at the Economy Ministry does not have the right, either legally or in practice, to check deals on site. The commission receives documents that are reviewed and signed by representatives of the State Agency for National Security, the Military Information service, the ministries of Interior, of Defence and of Foreign Affairs, and only then does the Economy Minister sign the documents, Ninova explained.
