Prime Minister Kiril Petkov stated before Wednesday’s Government meeting that the Bulgarian crew blocked in the Ukrainian port of Mariupol will be rescued as soon as there is a green corridor, and the transfer is safe for them. The ship is located in an active military zone, Petkov added.

“As soon as the corridor becomes green, even if only temporarily, and we are certain that our sailors can be safely transferred, we are completely ready to take them out of there,” Petkov said, adding that the Bulgarian Government is monitoring the situation and getting updates every three hours. After speaking with the ship captain Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister said that the sailors are in good condition, with food and water to last them another ten days. He assured the media that the crew’s wellbeing is a top priority of this Government.
