site.btaPM Launches Ukraine Fund-raiser

In a Facebook post Monday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov announced the launch of a fund-raiser for Ukraine. The beneficiary is the Ukrainian government.

Petkov says that before a consensus is built in this country on whether or not it should send military aid to Ktiev, “we can choose to support Ukraine financially so it can purchase ammunition”.

He urges Bulgarian people to donate the equivalent of one wage. “Words are easy, deeds are hard. It is time Facebook posts translated into aid for Ukrine,” he wrote.

The post also says: “Sending military aid to Ukraine calls for political and societal unity. In the public space, there are lots of extreme views on the matter. […] As Prime Minister, I will continue to work towards a single Bulgarian position based on informed choice, and in the coming week I am convoking a coalition council and organizing a trip to Ukraine. […] We will see what the real needs of Ukraine are and help the coalition rally around something we can all stand behind. […] Germany, France, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria,. Greece, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Romania, Norway, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Lithiania, Luxembourg, Estonia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Cyprus and Latvia are all sending military aid to Ukraine and that has not resulted in a war against them.”
