site.btaBulgarian PM in Borodyanka: We Will Stand By Ukraine
Visiting the Ukrainian town of Borodyanka on Thursday, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov told journalists that "we cannot say that the war is Ukraine's problem and that we do not care when people are dying". Borodyanka is where the devastating impact of the war in Ukraine is clear to see, the Government Information Service reported.
In Petkov's words, he will tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during their meeting later on Thursday that Bulgaria will not stand idly by in this tragedy. "As a part of the democratic world and the EU, we will stand by Ukraine. This is not just Ukraine's battle: this is a civilizational choice on whose side we wish to stand," Petkov said firmly.
He also visited Bucha, where he saw the biggest mass grave with the remains of 97 innocent victims, the press release said.
Petkov is in Ukraine as head of a Bulgarian government delegation, which includes Defence Minister Dragomir Zakov, MPs Kaloyan Ikonomov (Continue the Change), Stanislav Balabanov (There Is Such a People) and Atanas Atanassov (Democratic Bulgaria), and the Foreign Ministry's Situation Centre Director Anton Markov.
