People gathered again for a peaceful protest in downtown Sofia on Thursday evening to express support for Ukraine in the war which began on February 24. Having organized through social media, the demonstrators filled the space in front of the President's Administration, calling for an end to the conflict.
From there, they marched to the landmark Eagles' Bridge. Some of the protesters called for Bulgarian military aid to Ukraine. People were carrying Bulgarian and Ukrainian flags and signs with inscriptions calling for peace.
The protest coincided with a visit by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov to Ukraine. His party, Continue the Change, favours military assistance to Ukraine, as do two other parties in the government coalition, but the final decision is to be made by Parliament.
