A letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy formally confirms that Kyiv wants to have Ukrainian military equipment repaired in Bulgaria. The letter was submitted to the Bulgarian Parliament Wednesday morning by Ukrainian Ambassador Vitaliy Moskalenko, Parliament's press office said.
The letter follows up on talks in Kyiv between the Ukrainian President and Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov during a recent visit to Ukraine of representatives of the government coalition in Bulgaria.
It was during this visit that the idea of military repairs for Ukraine in Bulgaria was first heard.
The delegation that Prime Minister Kiril Petkov took to Ukraine included his Defence Minister and representatives of three of the parties in the government coalition: Continue the Change, There Is Such a People and Democratic Bulgaria. The power-sharing Socialist party stayed out. They have been consistently against providing military assistance for Ukraine.
