Bulgarian Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska participated in an Informal Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
The chief diplomats discussed current security matters on the Alliance's agenda. The highlights included the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, NATO's response and the Allies' support for Kyiv; the June 29-30 NATO Madrid Summit, which is expected to adopt the Alliance's new Strategic Concept; and the future relations with partners Finland and Sweden in the current security context.
Genchovska stressed that Russia's invasion of Ukraine poses the worst threat to European security and the international legal order, which requires the Euro-Atlantic community to maintain its unity and solidarity. In the context of the changed geostrategic environment, Genchovska noted the historic importance of the upcoming NATO Madrid Summit and the decisions it is expected to make on dealing with the security challenges.
The Bulgarian official talked with her counterparts from Hungary, Croatia and the Republic of North Macedonia, the Foreign Ministry said.
