Bulgaria won two gold medals at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana (Albania).

In the men’s 55 kg competition, 20-year-old Angel Rusev made five successful attempts and defended his 2021 European title with a total result of 257 kilograms (a snatch lift of 113 kg and a clean and jerk lift of 144 kg).

In the men’s 61 kg competition, Ivan Dimov won a gold medal with a total result of 286 kilograms (a snatch lift of 135 kg and a clean and jerk lift of 151 kg). Gabriel Marinov claimed the bronze in the same weight class.

Another Bulgarian, Deniz Danev, made his debut at European Championships, finishing fourth in the 55 kg competition.
