site.btaBulgaria Wins Fifth Gold at European Weightlifting Championship in Tirana

Bulgaria won its fifth gold medal at the 2022 European Men's and Women's Weightlifting Championships in the Albanian capital, Tirana.

In the men’s 102 kg category, Hristo Hristov took the title with a total of 391 kg (a snatch lift of 180 kg and a clean and jerk lift of 211 kg). Giorgi Chkheidze from Georgia claimed the silver medal with a total of 384 kg. The third place was taken by Armenian Arsen Martirosyan.

Bulgaria's four other gold medals at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships were won by Angel Rusev in the men’s 55 kg competition, by Ivan Dimov in the men’s 61 kg, by Valentin Genchev in the men’s 67 kg, and by David Fischerov in the men’s 102 kg. Karlos Nasar won silver in the men’s 89 kg weight class. Bozhidar Andreev (men’s 81 kg) and Gabriel Marinov (men’s 61 kg) claimed bronze medals.
