Due to the health measures against the spread of COVID-19, UNICEF Bulgaria postpones to next week its series of information meetings aimed at explaining to Ukrainian families how to enrol their children in a school or kindergarten in Bulgaria, the organization said in a press release on Wednesday. The meeting scheduled for August 12 at the Golden Sands sea resort will not take place.

The way of holding the meetings will be changed: those interested in attending will be organized into smaller groups or will be redirected online, UNICEF said.

On Tuesday, the organization said in a press release that lawyers, education and health experts will provide Ukrainian families with up-to-date information on school enrolment and health requirements. The information is intended to help parents become thoroughly familiar with the Bulgarian education system and make informed choices. The meetings will also be webcast.

The initiative is in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, Foundation for Access to Rights, Astra Forum Foundation, Bulgarian Red Cross and The For Good Foundation.
