Kristian Vasilev of Bulgaria won the bronze medal in the men's single sculls event of the European Rowing Championships in Munich Sunday. He covered the 2,000-metre distance in 7:16.37 minutes and finished third after a late overtake on Germany's Oliver Zeidler, European champion in 2021 and world champion in 2019.
Youth and Sports Minister Vesela Lecheva congratulated Vasilev on his achievement. She wrote in a message: "I congratulate you on your great success, which came after strong competition. Your medal is an acknowledgement for your hard work and the work of your coaches and the leadership of our Rowing Federation."
Overall, this season has been successful for Vasilev, who placed fifth in the single sculls A-final at a World Cup competition in Belgrade in May.
