An e-handbook will help Ukrainian refugee children in Bulgaria to adapt to the local school system, the Prepodavame.bg online platform said. The handbook is available to schools and non-governmental organizations and can be downloaded for free from the website of Prepodavame.bg.

The e-handbook is based on the experiences in the all-day centre for refugee children from Ukraine in the Muzeiko children’s museum in Sofia in the spring of 2022. It also includes tips and ideas from the Teach for Bulgaria Foundation for organizing summer academies for students.

According to data posted on ukraine.gov.bg, more than 39,000 Ukrainian children arrived in Bulgaria in the last six months. Some 1,000 of them have enrolled in Bulgarian schools in the 2021/2022 school year.

The e-handbook will be a useful resource for all educational institutions in Bulgaria that want to support the adaptation of Ukrainian children by implementing additional activities and trainings at the beginning of the new 2022/2023 school year.
