site.btaChepelare Hosts International Mountain Running and Biking Competition

Close to 100 entrants from France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria have declared their intention to participate in a mountain running and mountain biking competition called Chepelarski Tarkala, to be held near the town of Chepelare, Southern Bulgaria on August 27-28, the organizer Teodora Pencheva said on Friday. She said the competition is a qualifying event for a prestigious tournament in France, which is why it attracts international interest.

The fifth edition of Chepelarski Tarkala includes four races of about 20 km each. The races start and finish in Olympic Square, the central square in Chepelare. The elevation gain is 2,950 m.

It is up to each entrant to choose how many of the four races he/she will join. The disciplines are mountain running, mountain biking and mountain electric biking.

Nestled in the beautiful Rhodope Mountains, Chepelare is a European Town of Sport in 2022. Chepelarski Tarkala will coincide with a summer biathlon competition for the Rozhen-Chepelare 2016 Cup.
