More than 30 Bulgarians will compete in the 2022 Veterans World Wrestling Championships between October 4 and 9 here. Fans of the sport will see successful athletes from the past, including Remzi Osman, former national team representatives Dragomir Stoychev and Petar Bogaevski, the 2016 World Championship silver medallist Stefan Georgiev, and previous winner of the tournament Yulian Georgiev, who will compete in both Greco-Roman and freestyle.

Originally, the competition was going to take place in Sofia's Asics Arena, but the October 2 parliamentary election had the organizers move it to Plovdiv's Kolodruma.

The previous time Plovdiv hosted the tournament was in 2017, when the Bulgarian athletes won 16 medals. This year, more than 500 wrestlers from 34 countries have signed up to compete.
