site.btaUPDATED PM Donev: Missile Blasts Call for Urgent Rethink of Actions to Keep Peace
Bulgarian Prime Minister Galab Donev Wednesday said the two missile blasts near Poland's border with Ukraine which claimed civilian lives call for an urgent rethink of the further actions to keep peace. "We are in constant contact with our NATO allies and EU partners. We are closely following the investigation. A restrained tone and statements based on facts are a must because this is about war," he said before the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers.
In his view, any assumptions made before the facts and circumstances of the incident in Polish territory have been clarified will be speculation which risks escalating and possibly spilling the conflict.
"Talking about the war as a video game is a dangerous hobby. Russia's war against Ukraine is not a simulation of a military situation. This military conflict kills innocent people and destroys the future of Europe and the world," Donev said.
He said he would call a meeting of the government's Security Council as soon as the result of consultations with the NATO Allies became available. He added that the unity of the Allies and partners in NATO and the EU is now of key importance.
Donev said the efforts to restore peace and security in the region should continue by diplomatic means.
