site.btaGERB: Bulgaria Not in Danger, Important to Establish Facts First

Bulgaria is not in any danger in the wake of the missiles' blast in Poland on Tuesday, Daniel Mitov MP of GERB-UDF told reporters in Parliament. Asked whether Bulgarians should worry considering what happened in Poland, he said that "before we start to worry, we need to have the facts established".

"As you see all countries are approaching the matter with caution because no hasty action or positions should be taken before the facts are established," he said. One the facts are clear, a decision can be made whether to hold a meeting under Article 4 of the Washington Treaty, he added.

He also said that anything Poland needs, Bulgaria is ready to provide. "Of course, we reconfirm our solidarity with our partners," he added.

He said further: "Any NATO country needs to strengthen its defence in this situation. All efforts in Bulgaria are focused on modernizing this country's defence capabilities and being adequate in this situation."
