An analysis showing what kind of armament Bulgaria can provide to Ukraine will be ready at the end of this week, Bulgarian caretaker Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov told journalists here on Thursday.

Next, a proposal for the Council of Ministers will be drafted, to be submitted subsequently to the National Assembly, Stoyanov specified. "A little more technical work needs to be done, and a rather difficult logistical operation must be arranged, because it involves both inland and cross-border transportation of weapons," the Defence Minister added.

Ukrainian Ambassador in Sofia Vitaliy Moskalenko told journalists here on Thursday that artillery pieces, air defence means, shells, ammunition, tanks, armored personnel carriers and aircraft top the list of the military aid that Ukraine needs. The diplomat explained that the list, which he described as "exceedingly broad and large-scale," was presented by his country even before the National Assembly passed its resolution on the provision of such aid by Bulgaria.

Moskalenko said he did not have exact information on what armament Bulgaria will provide. "It is a matter of receiving the types of equipment that are available in Bulgaria and that it can spare for the needs of the armed forces of Ukraine, which is now fighting for freedom and independence of the Ukrainian State," he pointed out.

Asked whether his country's needs of weapons have changed after the incident in Poland, Moskalenko said that the situation had not changed significantly and Ukraine needs the same armament: air defence means, armour, artillery, ammunition and shells.
