The BSP for Bulgaria parliamentary group asked President Rumen Radev to veto the ratification of an agreement for Bulgaria to supply weapons to Ukraine, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) said in a press release on Saturday. The request follows a statement by BSP leader Kornelia Ninova, who said after Friday's ratification of the agreement that "obviously, there is a coalition of war in the debating chamber" and called for a presidential veto.

In its letter to the President, the parliamentary group argued that there are multiple reasons for a veto: constitutional, legal, moral and political. The group noted that under the agreement, any replacement or addition of assets which are to be provided to Ukraine requires a decision by the Council of Ministers, which implies circumvention of the National Assembly. The group recalled statements by the President himself, who has spoken against Bulgaria's involvement in the war in Ukraine.
