Bulgarian navy research ship bound for Antarctica

The first Bulgarian military research/survey vessel (RSV) Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii set sail from Varna for Antarctica on Tuesday at 2 pm. The voyage assisting the 31st Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition is expected to last four months, and the vessel will take 40 days to reach Livingston Island. 

According to the schedule at 00:30 on December 28, Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii will enter the territorial waters of Turkiye, Chief Petty Officer Nikola Lipchev, who is part of the crew of the vessel, told BTA.

The ship is expected to reach the approaches to the Bosphorus around 07:40 on the same date, he added. After crossing the strait, the ship will head to the Sea of Marmara, the Dardanelles, the Aegean Sea to reach its first stopover on the way to Livingston Island - the port of Cartagena in Spain after a week-long sailing.
