site.btaUPDATED Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Condemns Deadly Russian Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure in Ukraine
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Tuesday condemned deadly Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine last weekend. "We absolutely condemn Russia's horrific attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, which have claimed many lives in Dnipro and elsewhere. Bulgaria will continue to support Ukraine and its people," the Ministry said in a post on Twitter.
"Russia must be held accountable for all crimes committed," it tweeted.
On Saturday, a residential building in the Ukrainian town of Dnipro was hit in a Russian missile attack. Reuters cited the local authorities as setting the number of victims at 40, with 30 people still missing. Dnipro Governor Hennady Korban said on Telegram that 75 people, including 14 children, were injured in the strike.
Reacting to the Foreign Ministry's statement, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria wrote on its official Facebook page:
"On 14 January this year, an advisor to the Office of the President of Ukrainian Oleksiy Arestovich openly stated that a part of the building in the town of Dnipropetrovsk [Dnipro] had collapsed due to a missile shot down by the Ukrainian air defense. In view of this, we consider speculation about Russia's culpability in the deaths of civilians to be frankly misleading and having nothing to do with reality. Once again, we would like to emphasize that the Russian military is not striking against residential buildings and social infrastructure in Ukraine, unlike the terrorist methods used by the Ukrainian armed forces, which continue to kill its own population on purpose and lead its country to complete destruction."
