1945: Metropolitan Stefan of Sofia is elected Bulgarian Exarch.

1993: First broadcast of Darik Radio in Sofia.

1999: Bulgarian Medical Association is established in Plovdiv, as successor to Bulgarian Medical Association set up in 1901.

1999: Chamber of Investigators in Bulgaria is established as professional association protecting investigators' independence and professional interests. 

2003: Bulgaria establishes diplomatic relations with Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (East Timor).

1873: Death sentence of revolutionary and freedom fighter Vasil Levski (1837-1873) is confirmed by Ottoman Sultan's firman.

1905: National Assembly passes Bulgaria's first law on protection of women and children workers at industrial enterprises.

1935: General Pencho Zlatev forms government of pro-monarchist activists of the Military League and civilian experts.

2001: First wholly privately-owned hydropower plant goes into operation.

2007: Georgi Parvanov and Angel Marin are inaugurated as President and Vice President for second term.

2007: Meglena Kuneva is sworn in as EU Commissioner for Consumer Affairs.

2012: Rosen Plevneliev and Margarita Popova are inaugurated as President and Vice President.
