site.btaIsrael to Provide Expert Assistance for Bulgaria's New Children's Hospital
Israel is ready to Bulgaria with expertise for the establishment of a National Children's Hospital, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday
Caretaker Health Minister Assen Medjidiev visited Israel between January 20 and 24 at the invitation of leading children’s hospitals there. There he discussed with the heads of paediatric medical institutions the options for exchange of experience in the construction and management of similar medical structures, as well as exchange of staff and specialisation of young doctors.
Next month, representatives from state-owned children's hospitals - owned by one of Israel's health insurance funds - will visit Bulgaria to assist the organization in forming a needs analysis team key to building the future National Children's Hospital.
The next step will be to plan short, focused specializations for young Bulgarian doctors in Israel, as well as exchange of experts in the field of child health care.
The project for the construction of a national children's hospital in Sofia has been pending for years. In November 2022, the caretaker government announced a lot for the future hospital has been chosen and designated a site of national importance. The medical establishment will be built on some 4 acres in the Gorna Banya neighbourhood of Sofia’s Ovcha Kupel residential quarter, directly next to the Prof. Boycho Boychev Orthopedic Hospital.
The establishment of a Training Centre for Women's Health and Reproductive Medicine in Bulgaria was agreed upon following a visit to a reproductive health centre at the Beilinson Hospital, one of the largest medical institutions in Israel. The project will be funded by the Israeli party, which shall also provide the initial staffing with specialists, the press release said.
