On Tuesday, the second day of his official visit to Bulgaria, Israeli Tourism Minister Haim Katz, accompanied by his delegation, and Bulgarian Deputy Tourism Minister Mariela Modeva arrived in Bansko for a working meeting organized by the Bulgarian Tourism Ministry, the Ministry said in a press release.

The guests from Israel met with Bansko Mayor Ivan Kadev, Deputy Mayor Sashka Vachkova and Malin Bistrin, Chair of the Union of Tourist Business in Bansko.

Bulgaria is among the preferred tourist destinations in Israel. Bansko is a recognizable and preferred destination for winter tourism on the Israeli tourist market, but also increasingly as a summer resort, the guests said. This is confirmed by Bansko Municipality statistics showing that almost one in four of the tourists who visited the resort last year came during the summer.

Israeli citizens are attracted by the fine recreation and sports conditions for young people, adults and families with children and by the availability of kosher food at the hotels and several eateries. They attach particular importance to Bansko's prestige as a quiet, secure and safe destination.

The hosts showed the distinguished Israeli guest and his company around the ski area infrastructure and some of the hotels frequented by Israeli holiday makers. In his talks with Katz, Mayor Kadev thanked the Israeli Embassy in Sofia for actively cooperating with his municipality and expressed his conviction that this cooperation will be expanding in future.

The Israeli Tourism Minister was excellently impressed by what he said. Moreover, he heard tourists from his country share superlatives about Bansko when they met at Banderishka Polyana ski centre.

During his formal and informal talks, Katz said he was ready to help broaden the publicity of Bansko in his country.

Bansko Municipality and Bansko tourism business executives will take part in the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) in Tel Aviv in mid-February.
