At its regular meeting on Wednesday the Council of Ministers amended an ordinance on medical expertise as the most significant and change is to the methodology for assessment of the percentage of long-term disability.
Caretaker Health Minister Assen Medjidiev told a news briefing and specified that the changes are in response to demands by non-governmental organizations of people with disabilities.
He said that the changes will help assess psychiatric patients more fairly.
The changes will allow a fairer assessment of conditions and a more precise assessment of cases when the degree of lifelong disability is fixed, said the Minister.
Patients who have been evaluated or reevaluated in the period until this ordinance takes effect, will be able to apply for reevaluation.
All this will speed up the process of medical expert evaluation, said Medjidiev.
