site.btaKyustendil Regional Prosecution Service Investigates Interior Ministry Employee Caught With Drugs

An Interior Ministry employee has been caught with drugs in Kyustendil, Western Bulgaria, the local police there said Wednesday. In the framework of a specialized operation to counteract crime and strengthen traffic control, conducted Tuesday evening, a private BMW car driven by a 32-year-old Kyustendil resident was checked. He refused to be tested for alcohol and drugs. In the meantime, it was established that he is an employee of the Interior Ministry, working for a structure in Sofia, said at a briefing on Wednesday the director of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Kyustendil, Senior Commissioner Todor Petrov. 

After an investigative task force was called to the scene, the vehicle was searched. They found 96 grammes of cannabis and 130 grammes of a white powdery substance (amphetamine), the police said. A search of the man's apartment found substances supposedly containing marijuana, Albena Rassolkova, administrative head of the Regional Prosecution Service, and Galina Dimitrova, spokeswoman for the prosecution, said during the briefing. A pre-trial procedure has been initiated in the case, led by Regional Prosecution Service. The man was detained for 24 hours under the Ministry of Interior Act.

The culprit has been charged, the prosecution service said.
