site.btaCOVID-19 Update:  4,616 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 15.9% 

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,063,808, after 28,873 tests identified 4,616 new infections on Friday, 75.74 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 15.9 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 1,038 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 635 cases and Plovdiv Region with 386.

The active cases are 247,517. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,347, including 588 in intensive care. Of the 554 hospital admissions, 84.84 per cent were not vaccinated.

Another 8,930 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 781,318.

Eighty-nine fatalities were reported (97.75 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 34,973.

With 6,120 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,271,963 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,036,346 people are fully vaccinated, and 670,361 have received a booster jab.
