Bulgaria can attract specialists currently working at research and development centres of Bulgarian companies in Ukraine, said here on Monday Innovations and Growth Minister Daniel Lorer during a hearing of the Parliamentary Economic Policy and Innovation Committee. According to Lorer, these are highly skilled specialists that would benefit the Bulgarian economy.

The first institute for PhD students in the field of artificial intelligence will be opened in Bulgaria jointly with the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, the Minister said. After completing their education, these experts will be able to attract companies in the high-tech sector, Lorer commented.

The Ministry of Innovation and Growth will work with the Education and Science Ministry to develop dual education across Bulgaria. "We want to act as a catalyst of the process of preparing technical experts, so that the industry does not suffer a workforce shortage," Lorer commented.
