site.btaBulgaria Eases Entry Procedure for Pets Accompanying Arrivals from Ukraine
In connection with the emergency situation in Ukraine, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has established a simplified procedure for entry into EU territory through Bulgaria of pets accompanying arrivals from Ukraine who are EU citizens, Ukrainian and other third-country nationals arriving from Ukraine if such pets do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) No 576/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 June 2013 on the non-commercial movement of pet animals, the Agency said in a press release on Monday.
Under the simplified procedure, the owners of pets which do not comply with one or more of the conditions set by the Regulation may transport them by submitting a notification on entry into the territory of Bulgaria or another Member State at the border checkpoint.
In case of stay in Bulgarian territory, the pets will be placed in isolation and under official control until the Regulation requirements are met. In case of transit through Bulgarian territory, the Agency will grant a transit authorization specifying the requirement or requirements which the pet does not meet so as to notify the Member State of final destination.
