The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,117,525, after 18,262 tests identified 2,393 new infections on Monday, 70.41 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 13.1 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 640 positive tests, followed by Bourgas Region with 340 cases and Plovdiv Region with 197.

The active cases are 195,420. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 2,349, including 288 in intensive care. Of the 248 new hospital admissions, 80.65 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 23,701.

Another 3,260 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 885,909.

Thirty-four fatalities were reported (91.18 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 36,196.

With 2,327 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,327,565 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,054,562 people are fully vaccinated, and 705,600 have received a booster jab.

Parliament Wednesday ratified an agreement under which Bulgaria is donating 258,570 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The expiry date of the COVID vaccines is March 31, 2022.
