site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 1,698 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 10.9%

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,136,604, after 15,551 tests identified 1,698 new infections on Tuesday, 68.08 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 10.9 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 515 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 127 cases and Burgas Region with 110.

The active cases are 187,031. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 1,971, including 217 in intensive care. Of the new 236 hospital admissions, 75.85 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 24,039.

Another 2,761 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 913,075.

Eighteen fatalities were reported (77.78 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 36,498.

With new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,348,404 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,049,909 people are fully vaccinated, and have received a booster jab.
