site.btaBaseload Powerplants with Bigger Share in Bulgaria's Energy Balance in January-April, Y/Y

The baseload powerplants increased their participation in Bulgaria's electricity output by 27.95% in the year to April 17, 2022, compared to a year earlier, show data published by the Energy System Operator on Tuesday. 

Between January 1 and April 17, 2022, they produced 14,721,468 MWh of electricity, up from 11,505,582 MWh a year earlier.

Electricity production in Bulgaria grew by 19.26% in 2022 to 17,211,866 MWh, compared to 14,431,816 MWh for the same period in 2021. 

In the year to April 17, Bulgaria's electricity consumption increased by 1.93% year-on-year to 13,069,059 MWh. For the same period in 2021, the consumption was 12,821,394 MWh. 

The share of renewable energy sources in Bulgaria's transmission network increased by 25.35% in the year to April 17, 2022, compared to a year earlier, and by 21.2% in the distribution network.  

The downward trend in electricity production by hydroelectric power plants continued, this time by 33.77% from a year earlier.
