site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 435 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 6.1%

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,158,354 after 7,162 tests identified 435 new infections on Wednesday, May 4, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/.

The active cases are 134,409. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 786, including 82 in intensive care. Out of 87 new hospital admissions on Tuesday, 75.86% were not vaccinated.

Another 3,578 COVID-19 patients in the country recovered on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 986,992. Six fatalities were reported in 24 hours, bringing the total to 36 953.

With 1,150 vaccine doses administered on Wednesday, the number of doses reached 4,384,884. A total of 2,056,367 people have received a second dose, and 748,313 have been given booster jabs.

The COVID-19 incidence rate in the country over the last fortnight is 97 based on 100,000 people, according to data from the National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. The incidence rate in the following regions places them in the yellow zone: Silistra, Yambol, Stara Zagora, Gabrovo, Lovech, Sofia City, Sofia Province, Kyustendil, Pernik, and Vidin. The remaining regions are in the green zone.

All five regions present on the epidemic map, showing the level of patients infected with the corona virus and hospitalized in intensive care, are at the lowest possible level: 0.
