Bulgarian national football team half Todor Nedelev underwent head surgery in Tbilisi after the team’s bus had a road accident upon arrival in Georgia late on Friday. Nobody else was seriously harmed in the crash.

The team arrived in Georgia for a Nations League match due Sunday. At Tbilisi airport they were split in two groups to be taken to the hotel by two buses. The driver of the second bus lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the first one, said the Bulgarian Football Union.

Nedelev’s team Botev Plovdiv reported him to be in stable condition after the surgery. The doctors removed a bone fragment and a glass shard from his skull.

At this stage the match is still on for Sunday but other options have also been considered.
