site.btaPresident Radev Unveils World Taekwondo Junior Championship in Sofia

President Rumen Radev officially unveiled the World Taekwondo Junior Championship here on Tuesday. The World Taekwondo Cadet Championship already began on July 28 in Sofia. For the first time in the history of this sport, taekwondo championships in two different categories are held in the same city within several days.

"For centuries, martial arts have been developing both physique and character, responsibility, respect not just for one's partner, but also for one's opponent," Radev said in his speech. He called on the athletes to be an example of fair play.

The event was also attended by politician and former taekwondo champion Slavi Binev, as well as former professional footballer Hristo Stoichkov.

World Taekwondo Federation President Chungwon Choue praised the excellent organization of the event and wished the young martial artists to never lose faith in their own strength and dreams.
