site.btaSport Minister Prioritizes Control on Funds, Interest of Sports Organisations

As everywhere else, constant control of the way funds are spent, of efficiency, as well as clear-cut priorities to ensure that the interest of sports organizations, all experts, coaches and athletes is upheld, allowing them to show their full potential at the tip sports for a, caretaker Youth and Sports Minister Vesela Lecheva said Wednesday, commenting on her priorities.

In just six days at the post, Lecheva has already met with representatives of seven sports federations.

Commenting on the situation in the Bulgarian Football Union, the Sports Minister thinks that state should have a clear notion of its role in the case and should not interfere in the organization’s internal affairs. In her opinion, each party should be aware how much it can contribute to the public cause it upholds and step back to give way to new ideas.

As to the Bulgarian Sports Totalizator lottery, Lecheva underscored she would be guided by the results achieved alone, as it is an important part of the vascular system of Bulgarian sport.

Even though this year’s budget of the ministry is a record high one, it is still below those of (peer authorities) in the other EU countries in terms of percentage of GDP, said Lecheva who wants to see much more funds in school and student sports she currently considers sorely underfunded.
