site.btaSports Minister Opens World Junior Wrestling Championships in Sofia

Caretaker Youth and Sports Minister Vesela Lecheva Tuesday opened the 2022 World Junior Wrestling Championships (U20 World Championships), hosted by Sofia's Arena Armeec Sports Hall. An address by President Rumen Radev was read by the head of State's adviser on youth and sports, Georgi Aleksandrov. 

Minister Lecheva thanked United World Wrestling (UWW) for its trust to choose Bulgaria as host country and wished luck to the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation, represented by its President Hristo Marinov.

Lecheva talked with UWW Bureau member Pedro Miguel Dos Santos Silva, as well as with Daulet Turlykhanov, President of the UWW Asia and, just like Lecheva, Olympic medalist from Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992.

Bulgarian Olympic Committee Secretary General Belcho Goranov predicted that many of the competitors in the U20 World Championships will be potential participants in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
