site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 851 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 17.26%

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,239,382, after 4,931 tests identified 851 new infections on Friday, of which nearly two-thirds were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/ on Friday. The test positivity rate now stands at 17.26%.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 150 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 73 cases and Burgas Region with 59.

The active cases are 12,677. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 900, including 55 in intensive care. Of the 114 new hospital admissions, 76% were not vaccinated.

Another 841 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,189,121.

Six fatalities were reported (five of them unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 37,584.

With 1,391 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,519,761vaccine doses have been administered so far, 2,068,760 people are fully vaccinated, and 62,234 have received a second booster.
