Michaela Stoichkova, daughter of football star of world renown Hristo Stoichkov, has been appointed as director of the Bulgarian Professional Football League (BPFL), BPFL said on Saturday. Stoichkova will be in charge of BPFL's communications and strategic international relations.
She has been appointed at the position after an invitation of the new head of BPFL, Atanas Karainov.
In a statement on the occasion of her appointment, Stoichkova writes that her mission will be "to return the perception of the Bulgarian football as a value, not a price". Drawing from her extensive pool of contacts with many football organizations in the world, she pledges to work for the provision of better conditions and opportunities for the Bulgarian football clubs and players.
BPFL said Stoichkova and her team are working on a long-term plan for development of the League which is to be presented by the end of the month. Work has started on creating a new vision of the BPFL, attracting a new wave of international partners, and a comprehensive marketing strategy, BPFL said.
