site.btaFIG President Opens 36th Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Sofia

International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) President Morinari Watanabe opened the 36th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Sofia on Wednesday. Also attending the ceremony at Arena Sofia were caretaker Youth and Sports Minister Vesela Lecheva, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation President Krasimir Dunev, and Bulgarian Trampoline Federation President Stoian Dimitrov.

In his address, the FIG President said that the best athletes in the world are now in Sofia and he believes this will be a very exciting competition.

Lecheva said that participating in the 36th Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships are 380 competitors from over 45 countries. "I am sure that Bulgaria will once again show that is it an excellent host and will present an excellent organization. That will give an opportunity for this sport to become more popular among young people in Bulgaria," she also said in her address.

The 380 athletes will be competing for 15 sets of medals from November 16 to 19.
