The Council of Ministers Wednesday approved an additional transfer of BGN 3 million to the budget of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) for 2022 for the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles and vans. The resources will be provided through restructuring of the expenditure and/or transfers under the central government budget for 2022, the Government Information Service said.
The new vehicles will help BTA to implement its strategic goals of developing not only as a national but also as a regional news agency providing information from the Balkans for the world, as well as to keep Bulgaria well-informed about its neighbours. The agency’s correspondents will be able to get to events in good time and cover the topics and questions of importance to the public.
The additional resources under BTA’s budget are also needed in view of the broadening of its activity in relation to the establishment of the Association of the Balkan News Agencies - Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE) headquartered in Bulgaria and BTA Director General’s commitment to be its Secretary General.
At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers also approved an additional transfer of BGN 2 million under the Bulgarian National Television's 2022 budget for upgrading technical and technological measures so as to provide a multi-layer protection of the public media's information and communication infrastructure. The higher level of protection will guarantee the accessibility, integrity, availability, and confidentiality of the information massifs. It will also ensure the transparency and predictability of the state and behaviour of the information and communication environment, proactive monitoring, detection, reaction, and audit.
