National Assembly Chair Vezhdi Rashidov met with the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkiye, Fatih Donmez, the press centre of the National Assembly reported. Rashidov expressed his satisfaction with the signing of an agreement on Tuesday between the Bulgarian state gas company Bulgargaz and the Turkish state energy company Botas for access to the liquefied gas terminals and the gas transmission network in Turkiye.
"This agreement is vital for our country and I hope we will continue to work as two nations with very good relations," Rashidov said. He recalled his recent visit to Turkiye and noted that his personal proposal for Bulgaria to be a mediator in solving migration problems was met with approval.
These issues are expected to be discussed at the summit in Brussels, which will take place on February 8-10. Rashidov stressed that in this context, it is important to organize a round table on the topic with the participation of Turkiye, without which these problems cannot be solved. He recalled that he received the support of both the Turkish and Bulgarian presidents.
Fatih Donmez expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed special greetings from the President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally to Vezhdi Rashidov and to the entire Bulgarian people.
At the meeting between Vezhdi Rashidov and Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the end of last year, a number of issues were discussed, including energy cooperation and the possibility of signing future agreements between the two countries.
On Tuesday, one of these agreements come to fruition through the signing of the contract between Bulgargaz and Botas. Rashidov expressed hope for future joint work between the two companies.
"Through this agreement, the two countries mutually and reciprocally open their infrastructure for gas, and I hope that we will move towards the future with confident steps," stressed the Donmez.
