site.btaForeign Minister Milkov: Swedish EU Presidency Can Support Schengen Enlargement

The enlargement of the Schengen area is not among the apparent priorities of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The fact that this goal is not formally listed as priority does not mean that Sweden will not support the development of Schengen enlargement, Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov told the parliamentary committee on foreign policy on Wednesday.

He noted that he has held meetings with the newly appointed Swedish Foreign Minister and with the Swedish Ambassador to Bulgaria. In his words, they confirmed Sweden's support for Bulgaria's membership in the Schengen area.
