site.btaAustrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer Pays Visit to Bulgaria

Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer is paying a working visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of President Rumen Radev, the Bulgarian head of State’s press secretariat. Radev will welcome the guest at Plovdiv Airport, from where the two will go get acquainted on site with the security measures at the EU’s external border with Turkiye. 

Radev and Nehammer will visit the Border Police Regional Directorate in Elhovo (Southeastern Bulgaria), where the Regional Coordination Centre is located. The Centre is part of the Integrated Monitoring System of the Bulgarian-Turkish border. 

The Austrian Chancellor’s visit will be focused on Bulgarian border security and countering the migration pressure, as well as the application of EU law regarding the Schengen area. On the Austrian delegation is Federal Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner.
