Completing the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector is a top priority of the caretaker government and the crisis taskforce, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Aleksiev told reporters after an onsite inspection on Wednesday.

"The state is mobilized and will help the contractor to complete the project," said Aleksiev. He clarified that efforts will be made to have the connector complete by the heating season.

According to Aleksiev, the government's second priority is having the Bulgarian public supplier Bulgargaz stabilized. The Minister suggested that an update on that matter can be expected on Thursday. "The financial hole there is a billion, maybe more, and nothing is secured in terms of payment for supplies," said Aleksiev.
