site.btaInnovation Minister: Tourism Industry Can Apply for Funding of Innovation, Energy Efficiency Projects Under National Recovery Plan
Caretaker Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev said Monday in Varna that companies from the tourism sector can apply for funding under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) with projects implementing innovations, ensuring energy efficiency, and for working capital. Pulev was among the guests at the opening of the Deep Tech Innovation Port at the Varna University of Economics.
He specified that a procedure under the NRRP with a total budget of BGN 30 million opened on Monday. The procedure will enable companies to implement information and communication technology solutions and enhance their cyber security.
According to Pulev, another procedure, suitable for the tourism sector, is to be opened in the coming weeks under the NRRP, and it will have a budget of BGN 200 million. The money is to buy photovoltaics and accompanying infrastructure.
Companies from the sector can also apply under the newly opened programme for competitiveness and innovation, the minister added. One of the funding areas, with a resource of BGN 550 million, is for the implementation of innovations and high-tech solutions.
Pulev paid special attention to the instruments offered by the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) and the Fund of Funds (FOF). Through FOF businesses can apply for working capital loans on preferential terms. The programme has a limit of BGN 225 million, Pulev added. According to him, BDB also offers favourable loans. The problem is that the limit of this instrument is only BGN 20 million, which is extremely insufficient, the minister explained. He said his team is currently working actively to develop new instruments through which the bank can help businesses.
