site.btaPamporovo Reports Increase in Tourists since Beginning of Ski Season, Resort Is Among Few Places in Europe with Good Conditions for Skiing
An increase in both Bulgarian and foreign tourists has been reported in the ski resort of Pamporovo, Southern Bulgaria, since the start of the ski season, Marian Belyakov, executive director of Pamporovo AD, told BTA on Wednesday. The increase in foreign holiday groups is more significant. More English, Irish, Romanians are arriving in the resort, which in recent weeks has been one of the few places in Europe with good skiing conditions amid spring temperatures in most winter destinations.
Seven slopes and five lifts are available to skiers and snowboarders in Pamporovo. The ski area is maintained thanks to artificial snowmaking systems. British, Bulgarian, Romanian, Greek, Turkish, Serbian and Moldovan tourists are the main customers in the resort since the beginning of the winter season.
The resort town of Devin, Southern Bulgaria, welcomed the New Year with hotels full of tourists, according to information from the mayor of the municipality, Zdravko Ivanov.
