Bulgaria’s Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angel Angelov, Consul General in Bitola Dimiter Ivanov and members of the Bulgarian embassy visited the Gjorgji Naumov Technical High School in the city. The building was renovated, including new windows and doors, some premises and the gym, the roof and the lighting, which reduced the school’s electricity bills by 40 per cent.
The renovation project was supported with a grant of 133,000 euro under the Bulgarian Aid for Development Programme of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered via the Bulgarian Consulate in Bitola, and co-funded by Bitola Municipality with 27,000 euro.
“The loss of heating has been reduced and the building will become 100 per cent energy efficient with the forthcoming repair of the school’s facade,” the principal said, adding that this was the largest investment with foreign participation to the school.
The Bulgarian state has as a main priority support of health and educational establishments, Consul Ivanov said, expressing satisfaction that students and staff are provided with good conditions to study and teach. Schools in several locations in the region have been renovated with Bulgarian aid in recent years, he added, and promised future support.
In another development, the Mountain Rescue Service in Bitola expressed gratitude for the funds donated for the acquisition of specialized equipment. The funds for the project were also extended under the Bulgarian Aid for Development Programme.
