The results of the September 2021 census in the Republic of North Macedonia were presented by Apostol Simovski, Director of the State Statistical Office on Wednesday. According to the results, North Macedonia’s population numbers 2,097,319 and 1,836,713 live in the country.
Data show that the 54.25 per cent of all respondents identified as Macedonians, 29.52 as Albanians, 3.98 as Turks, 1.18 per cent as Serbs, 0.87 per cent as Bosniaks and 0.34 per cent as Aromanians, said Simovski.
Some 3,504 identified as Bulgarians, of whom 2,121 men and 1,383 women.
Of those who reside permanently in the country, 58.48 per cent identified as Macedonians, 24.3 per cent as Albanians, 3.86 per cent as Turks, 2.53 per cent as Roma, 0.94 per cent as Aromanians and 0.87 per cent as Bosniaks.
Of Macedonian citizens who had resided abroad for more than 12 months abroad and foreigners who had resided in the country for less than 12 months 24.45 per cent declared themselves as Macedonians, 66.36 per cent as Albanians, 4.79 per cent as Turks, 1.02 per cent as Roma, 0.19 per cent as Aromanians and 0.35 per cent as Serbs.
