site.btaVP Iotova, Delegation Pay Tribute to 15 Bulgarian Victims of Ilinden Boat Sinking

On Sunday, a delegation led by Vice President Iliana Iotova paid tribute to the memory of 15 Bulgarian tourists  who drowned when the boat Ilinden sank into Lake Ohrid, the Republic of North Macedonia, on September 5, 2009. Iotova, together with the Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angel Angelov, the Consul General based in Bitola, Dimiter Ivanov, and representatives of various institutions, laid wreaths at the monument to the Bulgarian tourists by the shores of the lake.

The monument was raised with funds of the State Cultural Institute with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria and was unveiled on September 5, 2020.

Iotova and the accompanying delegation are paying a two-day visit to the Republic of North Macedonia.
